Take a whiff and your eyebrows will jump! Flowers bloom overnight and as the day warms up, the petals will fall off leaving behind maroon disks surrounded in green, lending to its alternative name, "green eyes". Chocolate flavoured stamens are edible! In the plants native regions of the U.S. Southwest and Mexico, the First Nations people burned the roots to calm the nerves and conjure up courage.
