I have a 5 yr old Rottweiler that has been diagnosed with pseudamonia (sp) in his right ear. In the past he has had problems with yeast infections in that ear. Over the last two months the vet has treated him with first, Ciprofloxacin 500 mg, second with Baytril Otic and now with Animax Ointment 30 ml. Nothing seems to be working. I have considered a "all natural" ear drop that I have found on a web site, but it contains tea tree oil. I used something similar a few years back that I bought at a pet supply store and it burned his ears. Is there something herbal/natural that I can use to cure this bacterial infection?

I believe you are referring to "pseudomonas", a bacteria that can be found in canine ear infections. Given your dog is suffering from both bacterial and fungal conditions, you may want to look at a blend of infused herbal oils such as Mullein (Verbascum thapsus), Garlic (Allium sativa), Oregon Grape (Berberis aquifolium), Calendula (Calendula officinalis) and Yarrow (Achillea millefolium). These herbs have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and may help your dog’s ears. It might be best for you to contact a qualified herbalist in your area to make the oils up as these may not be available through your local health food shop.
