Bay Tree in the Gulf Coast Area Answered by: Inge Poot Question from: Betty Carroll Posted on: May 10, 1999
How tall do bay leaf trees get and do they thrive here in the Gulf Coast (Houston, Texas) area? Will they grow well outside in the sun?
Texas has zones 7 to 9. Since bay is hardy in zones 8 to 10 it will do fine in central and southern Texas. Plant it in full sun or half shade. It will grow 3 to 15 meters tall, but can be kept at any size and shape by pruning.
