Can taking too much ginseng cause spotting? I was taking 2 ginseng capsules, plus 1 capsule of Ginkgo biloba and experience some mild spotting.

It is possible that spotting is a side effect of taking Ginseng, because menstrual irregularities is a contraindication for taking it. As with all herbs, if you are experiencing a side effect, you should stop taking it. You should consult your doctor about spotting.

Other contraindications for taking Ginseng are nervous tension or anxiety, hypertension, hypoglycemia and caffeine consumption. Other signs which indicate that you should stop taking Ginseng are nervousness, skin problems and hypertension.
