Can taking St. John’s Wort cause headaches?

Christopher Hobbs has a good discussion on when and when not to use St Johnswort in his book, "St John’s Wort: The Mood Enhancing Herb" (available from Richters).

We have never heard anecdotal accounts of headache caused by it. Although St Johnswort is a weak monoamine oxidase inhibitor, it is advisable to watch intake of high tyramine foods. In principle, high-tyramine such as certain meats and cheeses can cause high blood pressure and leading to headaches.
