Can you please tell me if Garcinia Cambogia can really block carbohydrates from being absorbed into your body or what does this really do?

According to James Duke’s ethnobotanical data base (http://www.ars-grin.gov/duke/) Garcinia cambogia has effective antiseptic properties for bowel and stomach infections and rheumatoid arthritis. It acts as a purgative, stimulating the bowels.

In a double blind clinical trial documented on medline, (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/htbin-post/Entrez/query?uid=9820262&form=6&db=m&Dopt=b) no significant results were seen in reduction of weight or fat mass in the group of subjects taking Garcinia cambogia.

Other than the product literature, I have no other references to this plant.
