I enjoyed your web site, but was unable to find some info on Mullein Leaf. I use the extract in a tincture 2x day to help battle chronic bronchitis. It truly helps with the chest congestion and the cough. A friend of mine is battling emphysema. Could she too take Mullein?

Mullein leaf is soothing and relaxing to the bronchial tract, reduces inflammation, stimulates expectoration and helps to strengthen the lungs. It is useful in bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, pneumonia and other ailments of the respiratory tract. It is most effective taken as a tea.

Mullein leaf is also a mild diuretic and a mild sedative.

To make mullein tea, steep two teaspoons of the dried leaf in a cup of boiling water for 15 minutes. Strain, and drink three cups a day. The tincture dose is one teaspoon in water, three times a day.

Mullein flower oil is used as ear drops to clear inflammation and to soften wax: 3 - 5 drops of the warm (not hot!) oil in the ear every three hours. The oil is made by gently heating the flowers, just covered in olive, sunflower or almond oil, in a non-aluminum pot, until the colour has faded from the flowers. Alternatively, the oil can be made by filling a jar with mullein flowers, covering with oil and placing in a warm, sunny windowsill for 2 weeks. Then the oil is strained through cheesecloth, bottled and kept in a cool, dark place for up to one year.
