I would like to know if you could give me some information concerning the use of Black Walnut Green Hull. I was recently told to use garlic and tea tree oil externally and to take 1 teaspoon of the Black Walnut Herb internally three times a day along with 3 capsules of acidophilus to remove warts that I have on my body. I am a diabetic with other health problems so I am not sure if the Black Walnut would be a good thing to take internally. I don’t know anything about this herb. I would appreciate any information you might have to offer.

The green hulls (the green shells around the nut) of black walnut are usually used internally as a blood cleanser, most often to kill internal parasites. With warts, there is usually an internal problem with blood impurity or with the immune system. This remedy should be given along with herbs or foods that have a laxative effect, to ensure that the internal toxins are expelled from the body. This remedy is said to have a good effect on blood sugar in high blood sugar problems, but I have no experience with this.

Black walnut green hull is usually used internally for only for a short time, for example: 4 days of the remedy, a 2 day break, then another 4 days with the remedy. Longer term may lead to toxicity. In fact the German authority for herbal use, Commission E (an ultra cautious authority), does not recommend the use of walnut hulls because effectiveness is not documented and risks are known.
