My daughter is 17-1/2 years old. Last year she had a severe infection and had to have her tonsils removed. From that point on she suffered with loose stole to the point of diarrhea. She was diagnosed with a abnormal gall bladder and had that removed in 11/04. For the past month and a half she has had complete diarrhea with blood. She was referred to a GI doctor and he thinks she has colitis or Crohn’s and potential polyps, ulcers. He has scheduled a colonoscopy for 1/24/05. I was reading some of the Q&A for herbal treatment. Could you make any other suggestions? After the testing I will speak to the doctor about herbal treatments.

In addition to the information about inflammatory bowel disease on our website, I recommend that you read Elaine Gottschall´s book "Breaking the Vicious Cycle". Elaine´s diet has proven to have much success in inflammatory bowel disease.

Doctors will generally not agree that the diet can affect bowel disease. In my experience, clients who successfully use the diet, and continue under the care of their doctors, do convince the doctors that diet does make a difference in inflammatory bowel disease.

Elaine Gottschall´s diet users have an email support group that is beneficial to using the diet and handling any problems that arise.
