I purchased a bottle of saw palmetto. On the bottle it says and I quote "this product is intended for men, and should not be used by pregnant and lactating women." Well now I’m not pregnant nor lactating but can this stuff hurt me? I’m a woman. I purchased it to have a little bust growing action. The dose is 160 mg, 2 per day.

Saw palmetto may have some hormonal actions, so is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation. The normal therapeutic dose is 160 mg, twice daily. The wording on your product label is probably meant to protect the manufacturer from health problems that may be caused if taken by a pregnant or lactating woman. In other cases, saw palmetto is safe for women. Whether it promotes breast development is unknown. It has a folk tradition for this purpose.
