I’m asking for a friend who has severe head sweats, I’ve checked his medications for interaction and side effects and have found no problem. He is insulin diabetic, and recently been advised he may have angina. He’s awaiting futher tests. He is roughly 45 years of age, and 40lbs over weight. he is embarassed to go in public for fear he will break out in sweats. This is confined to the head only. Could you help me with this?

I suggest that your friend consult with his doctor for the possibility of his medications causing his sweating.

Liver support often helps with excess sweating. Many drugs disturb normal liver function. Is there a relationship between the beginning of the sweating problems with the start of drugs? Herbs like milk thistle, dandelion root and turmeric support the liver to metabolize drugs and excrete toxins. Poor diet and poor digestive function cause an accumulation of toxins, which block the body’s normal circulatory flow. Liver herbs support digestive function.

Excessive heat in the head may indicate circulatory congestion. Feelings of stress aggravate heart and circulation function. Herbs that you can look into for support of the heart and circulation include hawthorn, linden flower, motherwort and prickly ash. Motherwort and linden flower are also calming, helping to relieve symptoms of stress. German chamomile flower is calming, supports the liver and digestion and decreases inflammation.

There is a relationship between the functioning of the adrenal glands and abnormal sweating. Excess physical and mental stress impact the excretion of hormones from the adrenal glands. Adrenal hormones affect blood pressure, blood sugar and water regulation in the body. Look into methods of relieving stress with physical exercise and exercises such as yoga, tai chi, meditation and breathing exercises.
