I am interested to learn more about the alternative medicine to treat diabetes. I have diabetes Type 2. I just learned that stevia might help to help to lower the blood sugar level. What do you think?. I started taking noni; I believe it did help some. I am now more serious to take care of my diabetes. My sugar level right now is 130 without breakfast.

Stevia is a sugar substitute that is not metabolized into glucose like sugar is. As a substitute for some of the sugar in your diet it can help reduce glucose levels. But stevia does not does not alter the body’s basic sugar metabolism and is therefore not a treatment for diabetes. There are other herbs that have a more direct effect on glucose management and they, along with stevia as a sugar substitute, should be considered in a management program. It is wise to consult a qualified health practitioner such as a professional herbalist for further direction.
