Too Much Mucus in Throat

Are there any herbs that would help thinning mucus and helping me expell it. Sometimes when I eat, the mucus will not allow the food to go down. Most of the time the food eventually goes down. Sometimes I need to get up and go to restroom and cough up the mucus and well chewed food. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you need to be asking, "why is my body producing so much mucous?" The answer is that the body produces mucous in an effort to create a barrier between the lining of the intestinal tract and the ingested food contents as the food is too irritating to the lining. Often times the body is sensitive or allergic to the offending food or the digestive system is irritated in general and is creating a barrier from all foods. If you have a food that you suspect may be causing irritation to your body, eliminate it for several weeks and see how the mucous production is changed. Several attempts at removing several foods may be necessary. Herbs that help to improve good digestion would also be indicated here - chamomile, peppermint, gentian, dandelion, catnip, valerian or elecampane are several such examples and would depend on the rest of your digestion to know which one would be best for you.
