It was recomended to me that I start to use Astragalus. When I check Richters to order it comes in the form of dried root or liquid extract. Could you explain how to use both and if one has more benefit over the other.

Astragalus is a wonderful herb to support and regulate the immune system.

Astragalus tincture is a liquid extract. It is composed of alcohol & water which extract the healing properties of the Astragalus. It is usually taken in a 5ml dose in about an ounce of water. This is the most convenient method however should be avoided if individual is sensitive to alcohol.

The dried root may also be decocted, which means placing the root in water, bringing to a boil, then reducing the heat to simmer for 10-15 minutes before drinking it as a cup of tea. Either method is effective however the tincture is generally more convenient.

Astragalus root pieces may also be boiled in soups and removed just before serving.
