Larger PotMaker?

I have six of your PotMakers and find them very useful, economical and environmentally sustainable way to plant seeds with my students. What I need now is a larger model so that we might be able to make transplant the seedlings into larger recycled newspaper pots. Do you make these? Could you make these? We’d like 4" diameter pots. Your PotMakers are nifty devices and the work well with the Montessori philosophy of teaching at our school.

We are delighted to hear that the PotMaker has worked well for you and your students. We have always felt that the PotMaker is an ideal teaching tool for schools because it teaches the importance of recycling and growing at the same time.

We do not make a larger model at this time. But there has been some interest in the past so we had a few prototypes made. But to date, we are not yet convinced that there is enough demand to warrant the cost of manufacturing and promoting the larger size. One of the stumbling blocks is the fact that our PotMakers are made of solid maple and any doubling of the diameter of the pots means that four times the wood is required make the larger format (not to speak of the quadrupling of the shipping weight). When we asked people what they would pay for a larger format the response was not enough to pay the higher manufacturing and shipping costs, so we abandoned the idea for now at least.

We do have an extra prototype that we would be prepared to sell to you if a single one would be of use to you. If you are interested, let me know.
